European Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence (CSDDD or CS3D)

How La Isla Network can help you with CSDDD compliance

Businesses play an essential role in building a sustainable economy and society. Progress in tackling adverse impacts on human rights and the environment remains too slow and uneven. In April 2024 the European Parliament approved the European Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence (CSDDD or CS3D).

This Directive establishes the obligations of corporations with respect to adverse, actual and potential impacts that can affect human rights when conducting their operations or when their subsidiaries or their business partners conduct operations in the business chains It also establishes the obligations of corporations regarding the adoption of a transition plan to mitigate climate change.

What are the obligations for companies under the CSDDD?

  1. The integration of due diligence into the policies and risk management systems of companies, plus the adoption of a due diligence policy ensuring this.
  2. The identification, assessment and prioritization of adverse impacts requiring  companies to map their own operations, those of their subsidiaries, and of their business partners in their chain of activities.
  3. The prevention of potential adverse impacts and the elimination or minimization of the extent of actual adverse impacts.
  4. The establishment of a notification mechanism and complaints procedure to enable persons who are affected or might be affected, as well as their representatives and relevant society organizations, to submit complaints related to adverse impacts.
  5. The monitoring of the implementation and effectiveness of the due diligence measures through periodic evaluations that assess implementation and verify the adequacy and effectiveness of the measures.
  6. Public communication on the due diligence conducted in the form of an annual statement.
  7. The adoption and implementation of a climate transition plan for climate change mitigation.

How we can work together toward your CSDDD goals

As an independent research and data driven not for profit advisory we are ready to assist with developing and/or improve your company’s CSDDD policy. We directly contribute to obligations 1,2,3,5, 6 and 7.
