La Isla Network and The Rockefeller Foundation are launching new initiatives in El Salvador and Brazil to address this challenge through research, workplace interventions, and policy engagement.
In El Salvador, the project will expand heat protection systems for sugarcane workers while studying how climate stress affects migration decisions.
In Brazil, a new research initiative will examine heat exposure among women working in Rio de Janeiro’s informal economy, generating data to support improved urban heat health policies.
Together, these efforts aim to produce practical solutions that protect workers, strengthen communities, and help governments and industries adapt to rising temperatures.
