La Isla Network welcomes Emma Demoulière, who will complete a six month legal internship. Ms. Demoulière will execute a variety of tasks, like conducting research on European laws, drafting advocacy documents, engaging with businesses through proposals, and assisting in network building activities across Europe. Further, she will be involved in writing grant proposals and reaching out to development banks for project funding opportunities.

La Isla Network warmly welcomes her to the team! We interviewed her to learn more about her and her work.

La Isla Network: Can you please tell us about yourself?

Emma Demoulière: At 22 years old, I’m about to complete my Master’s degree in International Public Law in Lille, in northern France. My specialization is in International Organizations Law and Human Rights. I’m particularly interested in the legal protection of workers facing increasing heat conditions caused by climate change.

LIN: How did you find out about La Isla Network and why did you choose to work with us?

ED: I discovered La Isla Network while watching a documentary titled ‘Too Hot to Work’ on Arte, a European French-German television channel focused on cultural and educational programs. The documentary caught my attention and directed me towards the issue of heat in the workplace, prompting me to choose to work with this organization. As part of my degree requirements, I needed to complete a 6-month internship, and I selected La Isla Network because the NGO’s mission aligns perfectly with my research interests sparked by the documentary.

LIN: You will be doing impressive work with us. What do you hope to get out of your experience?

ED: This experience presents a remarkable opportunity for me to immerse myself in my area of interest, and I am incredibly grateful for it. I hope to positively contribute to La Isla Network’s mission while gaining hands-on experience. My aim is to apply the knowledge and skills I’ve acquired through my academic journey and previous professional experiences to serve La Isla Network effectively.

LIN: Finally, how does this experience align with your professional goals?

ED: This experience closely aligns with my professional aspirations, as I aim to conduct research on the legal protection of workers facing heat-related challenges. With a strong interest in this area, I’m committed to addressing the pressing need for safeguarding workers’ rights in changing climates.

LIN: Fantastic! Thank you for your time and best of luck in your internship.

ED: Thank you.
