Public Health maps CKD burden throughout Mesoamerica

Important new research by La Isla Network collaborators Erik Hansson et al. in this month’s BMC Public Health maps CKD burden throughout Mesoamerica, and finds that CKD burden is consistently highest in the hottest regions characterized by the most strenuous labor practises. These findings support the hypothesis of repeated heat stress as a cause of CKDnt.

The novel mapping approach will prove highly useful to governments, NGOs, and brands by empowering them with necessary data to allocate occupational assessments and interventions to adequately protect worker health.
