Roles and Key Responsibilities

  • Support Finance Manager in preparing BVA/Monitoring and participated during BVA review meeting.
  • Ensure all program/project advances are accounted for as per advance policy
  • Regularly reviews outstanding travel advances and aging reports to verify their accuracy and resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly.
  • Review and ensure that all ensures account balances are supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Responsible for bank reconciliation statement and update of financial data in accounting system.
  • Support the finance manager to create and sustain a healthy finance team environment of mutual respect and accountability where team members strive to achieve excellence
  • Support Finance manager in performing month-end-end closing and ensure management reports are processed on time. 
  • Provide other support to volunteers, interns and other staff as may be necessary
  • Support the Senior Managers in the provision of relevant grant information that includes but is not limited to agreements, budgets, and reports as may be requested during annual statutory audits. 
  • Participate in other non-routine audits as may be required for a specific grant for a specified award period, as directed by the Senior Manager, Grants, and Budgets. 
  • Assist in Coordinating the quarterly budget reviews at the end of the quarter
  • Conduct regular cash flow analyses to ensure the availability of funds and the accurate maintenance of bank balances.
  • Manage the organization’s credit cards issued to staff by ensuring that expenses are reported on time and reconciliations prepared in the system. 
  • Support in the consistent application of internal controls throughout the organization. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager and Chief Operations Officer

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, 
  • CPA finalist
  • Experienced in Excel and Online QuickBooks system 
  • IFRS and GAAP knowledge and Computer literate with significant experience in Excel and Word.
  • Minimum working experience of 3 years in financial management in INGO or non-profit organization
  • Familiarity with institutional and other donor guidelines is a strong advantage. 
  • Ability to communicate financial information to a non-financial audience. 
  • Skilled in handling sensitive and confidential issues with utmost professionalism.  
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision during deadlines.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Capability to handle pressure with adaptability, staying organized, and meeting deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, exercise good judgment, identify, and resolve problems.
